    An opportunity has arisen to join our Careers and Participation Service as a Tracking and Engagement Adviser, supporting young people who are at risk of not continuing in learning when they leave statutory education and young people who are Not in Employment Education or Training (NEET).

    You will be tracking the learning status of young people, 16 to 18 and up to age 25 for those with a maintained Education, Health and Care Plan, to promote their engagement in learning. Where young people are not in learning, arranging for support to be offered to help them access learning. Tracking is undertaken through direct contact with young people and parents through telephone and written communications and through processing information from learning providers.

    While you will be tracking young people 16-18 years old, the focus of this role will be to track learners 16 up to age 25 who have an EHCP. An understanding of special educational needs and the EHCP process would be useful in this role.

    Hybrid working is available in this role. The expectation would be that 60% of a working week is spent in the office.

    The role will involve working office hours, but there is a requirement to work 1 late evening per month, with a requirement for additional late evenings when we are busy tracking school and college leavers, September to December.

    There will also be occasional Saturday working required.

    Main Responsibilities

    Tracking and Engagement Advisors follow up, engage and maintain appropriate contact with young people to ascertain whether they are currently engaged in education, employment or training.

    You will undertake a range of customer service and administrative duties which include:

    • Making telephone calls, updating client records and directing to the appropriate person.
    • Completing a range of administrative tasks, processing incoming and outgoing mail, preparing resources and maintaining records, ensuring compliance with business processes
    • Using a range of ICT systems, databases and Microsoft packages as part of your daily work.

    While you will be tracking young people 16-18 years old, the focus of this role will be to track learners 16 up to age 25 who have an EHCP.

    The Ideal Candidate

    You will need:

    • Good communication skills because you will interact with lots of people externally and across the organisation through phone, email, text and letter.
    • Good organisation skills and attention to detail, as you’ll be keeping data updated and working to deadlines.
    • A ‘can do’ and flexible approach as sometimes things can change, and so you’ll need to be able to prioritise work and sometimes change tasks quickly.
    • An understanding of special educational needs and the EHCP process would be useful in this role.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, however further training will be provided.
    • A passion to always give the best service.
    • Be able to work flexibly including evenings and Saturday, as required.
