Are you passionate about protecting tenants, improving standards in the private rented sector, and helping people sustain their tenancies? If so, we’re looking for a proactive and skilled professional to join our Housing and Environmental Health service.

This is a new role that has been created in response to the introduction of the Renters Rights Act 2025. The varied and rewarding role sits between our Private Sector Housing and Housing Needs teams, combining tenancy advice, mediation, investigation, and enforcement in the private rented sector. You’ll play a key role in protecting tenants from unlawful practices, identifying landlord breaches and supporting enforcement action as appropriate.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is committed to providing excellent customer service
  • Can demonstrate strong communication, enforcement and case-management skills
  • Can work well under pressure, and can demonstrate a high level of accuracy in sometimes challenging circumstances
  • Has a sound understanding of housing or tenancy‑related issues, or clear transferable skills from a similar public‑facing, regulatory, or advisory role
  • Shares our values of Kindness, Collaboration, Accountability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Authenticity and Pride.

We offer a competitive salary, generous benefits, and an agile working environment that supports a healthy work/life balance. While the role includes flexibility to work from home, you will be expected to attend the office regularly and undertake home visits and meetings across the borough as required. We are proud to be a Disability Confident Employer and positively encourage applications from disabled people. If, as a disabled person, you meet the minimum criteria for the role, you will be guaranteed an interview, and we will ensure reasonable adjustments are made so you can be fairly assessed.
