What’s the role?

The Housing Services Directorate is seeking a Temporary Accommodation Housing Officer to join our team working as part of the homelessness service under Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, supporting households in temporary accommodation and ensuring statutory duties are met.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting applicants and ensuring the sustainment of accommodation. You will manage cases effectively, communicate with the appropriate teams, and drive service improvements.

Your duties will include liaising with applicants and partner agencies to maintain safe, secure, and well-managed properties, while providing a responsive and supportive service to ensure residents feel informed and satisfied throughout their stay. You will also ensure all tenancy management tasks are completed accurately and efficiently, contributing to continuous improvement in service delivery.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of part 7 of the Housing Act 1996, who can provide reliable customer service and work well with different stakeholders. You should be proactive in managing cases load, able to adapt to changes, and comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.

The role requires clear communication skills, the ability to keep accurate records, and a practical approach to problem-solving. A basic level of education, including GCSEs in English and Maths, is essential. You must also be willing to carry out property visits across the borough.

Location

The job is primarily based in Laurence House, Catford, London, SE6 4RU but we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis.

Salary

£40,404-£41,637 per annum (SO1)

N.B: All appointments will be offered at the minimum spinal column point (SCP) for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof.
