The successful individual will join Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue’s Community Fire Protection team, offering leadership and direction to the department. With an in depth knowledge of fire safety legislation, the individual will be responsible for developing the understanding of the subject across the Service.
Working within a team of fire safety experts, the individual will interpret national guidance and legislation, translating and developing local policy. Managing daily activities, a flexible and agile approach to delivery will ensure the needs of enforcing fire safety legislation are met by the Service.
About You:
LFR are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to support the leadership of our fire protection team.
The successful candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of fire protection legislation, reviewing and updating existing internal policy. With a number of updates to legislation already enacted the individual will need to ensure they maintain pace with an environment that is changing to support the safety of the built environment.
Whilst taking the direction from national policy change, it is important that the individual focuses what the changes mean to the communities of Lincolnshire. Our fire protection team need to ensure that we provide relevant and person centred support, with an aim of keeping communities safe and well.
The individual will need to be innovative and use their imagination to ensure that our staff delivery effective, accurate and supportive services to those responsible for compliance with fire protection legislation. Communication and engagement will form a significant part of the role, as well as working closely with colleagues across all departments of the service.
A dynamic leader will work within the community fire protection team, and look to ensure delivery is integrated across the Service. Taking a lead on LFR’s business engagement planning, the individual will work with partners and develop a network of support and compliance across the county.
An important part of the role will be to develop positive working relationships with individuals and groups.
Essential Criteria:
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills presented in a positive manner
- Proven ability to work under own initiative, unsupervised as well as within a team
- Ability to meet objectives and deadlines in a changing environment and maintaining professional credibility
- IT skills – Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Analysis and interpretation of data in order to assess risk
- Ability to develop policy, guidance and advice for technical fire safety issues
- The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post
- Knowledge and understanding of community issues and risks
- In-depth knowledge of fire safety legislation
- Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation
- Data protection/security of data
- Good working knowledge and understanding of the legal system to support prosecutions where required
Essential Qualifications needed:
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
- Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety
- PCIL Level 7 or equivalent
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of partnership and community related networks
- Awareness of multi-agency initiatives
- Knowledge and understanding of partnership structures and funding sources
- HTM Qualification
- Petroleum Qualification
- Sports Grounds Qualification
- Internal Information Governance Qualification

This legislation change applies to all Fire Services across the country and the process aims to help safeguard colleagues and communities. This role will require an enhanced DBS check.

Salary range
- £39,152 - £42,839 per year
