We are seeking to recruit a full-time Health and Safety Adviser within our busy Health and Safety Team, located within the Risk and Audit function of Corporate Resources
Working out of Magdalen House, Bootle (with a hybrid working option available), the Health and Safety team provides advice and guidance to the Council, whilst seeking assurances on occupational health, safety and wellbeing matters and working closely with Risk and Audit colleagues (including Risk and Resilience, Insurance, Assurance and Internal Audit), as well as other teams such as HR, the Health Unit, Public Health, Property Services, Workforce Learning and Development and various Service Managers.
This role will coordinate and provide support for Sefton schools that have a service level agreement in place, whilst also providing day-to-day support and monitoring of the corporate function.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Assisting the Senior Health and Safety Adviser and other health and safety staff &nbsp;in providing advice and support on Health and Safety matters, whilst ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation across the Council.
Supporting the delivery of the Council’s Health and Safety Strategy, annual improvement, plan and audit and inspection programmes, whilst providing formal feedback to corporate management and schools on the significant findings of any audit or inspection, highlighting practical recommendations to address key weaknesses identified.
Monitoring and responding to the accident, incident and RIDDOR database, as well as other safety related databases and controlling and coordinating the administrative function of the team (including arranging invoice payments).
Assisting the health and safety team with the production of data and briefing papers for event safety management meetings and health and safety committee meetings.

The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is the principal healthcare facility in the Falkland Islands, providing primary care and a broad range of elective and emergency secondary care services.&nbsp; The hospital is well equipped with ambitious plans being developed to expand and upgrade facilities.

This post involves undertaking the full spectrum of GP work and will consist of 10 sessions per week (no on-call), with 3 of these sessions being dedicated administration time. This role has no on-call requirement, with standard working hours being Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30pm. &nbsp;
The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is a GP-led facility, with most of our physicians having an extended spectrum of practice that includes casualty, in-patient and on-call work. For this role however, we are looking for an experienced GP, on a two to four-year contract, who is able to help drive improvement in our Primary Care Department, particularly with reference to systems, processes and outcomes relating to chronic disease management.

In this pivotal role, you’ll ensure the Council meets its duties under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, coordinating our emergency planning, response, and recovery. You’ll be the go-to expert for resilience - shaping plans, leading training, and representing the Council at key forums.
What You’ll Be Doing:
<ul>
<li>Leading the development and delivery of emergency and business continuity plans.</li>
<li>Advising on risk, response, and recovery strategies across the Council.</li>
<li>Coordinating the Council’s Out-of-Hours Service and acting as Duty Officer on a rota basis.</li>
<li>Supporting community resilience, including Parish Councils and volunteer Flood Wardens.</li>
<li>Driving innovation through resilience projects and continuous improvement.</li>
<li>Representing the Council at local, regional, and national resilience forums.</li>
</ul>
What We’re Looking For:
<ul>
<li>A strategic thinker with a strong understanding of emergency planning and business continuity.</li>
<li>A confident communicator who can engage with stakeholders at all levels.</li>
<li>Someone who thrives in dynamic situations and can lead under pressure.</li>
<li>Experience in project management and multi-agency coordination is a plus.</li>
</ul>
