Test Valley comprises a diverse and attractive natural and built environment including the North Wessex Downs National Landscape, historic town of Romsey, and the River Test, along with largest settlement of Andover which is the commercial centre of the borough.

Our Building Control team ensures that new development meets the required standards, operating in a competitive market with the private sector, and we are focused on providing a high quality and responsive service.

The Technical Assistant role is vital to the successful performance of the Building Control service. Taking responsibility for the preliminary assessment, registration and technical administration of all Building Control applications, notifications and associated communications means you will have daily contact with our clients, colleagues and members of the public.

Reporting to the Building Control Manager you will have support from a fantastic team that are making a real difference in improving the quality of the built environment and people’s lives across Test Valley.

Ensuring the effective use of our IDOX Uniform database and associated ICT systems, as well as providing a wide range of advice and assistance to the public, professional and private individuals, companies and colleagues are important parts of this role. You will therefore require excellent ICT, organisational, and communication skills. The ability to interpret legislation, technical plans and information and understand complex issues is also important.
