As a Technical Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organisation’s technical strategy and delivering impactful, value-for-money solutions. You’ll provide architectural leadership across a range of complex IT environments, collaborating with internal stakeholders, support teams, and third-party partners to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions that meet business needs.

You will lead on developing and maintaining architectures across business, infrastructure and functional domains. This includes defining requirements, assessing proposed solutions, and ensuring alignment with our existing estate and strategic roadmap. You’ll be at the forefront of planning future IT change, keeping ahead of industry trends and supplier developments to ensure interoperability and reusability.

Your role will involve preparing and overseeing technical plans and supporting operational availability, performance, capacity and maintenance of IT services. You will provide technical assurance and governance throughout the solution lifecycle, ensuring high standards are maintained in line with our policies around cost, security, and compliance. You'll also play a key part in resolving technical issues, leading root cause investigations, and owning the technical aspects of documentation and security compliance.

This is a leadership role requiring a high level of autonomy, strategic thinking and a proactive approach to change. You’ll contribute directly to the success of our digital transformation agenda and help shape the way we deliver services in the future.

Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.

About you

You are an experienced technical professional with a strong track record in solution design and architecture, particularly within infrastructure or software environments. With at least three years in a relevant technology role, you have led teams, influenced stakeholders and delivered results under pressure. You’re confident communicating at all levels, tailoring your approach for both technical and non-technical audiences.

You combine a strategic mindset with deep technical expertise. You understand architectural frameworks like TOGAF and have hands-on experience with the Microsoft technology stack, including M365, Azure and web architecture. You’re confident in applying architectural principles and governance in dynamic environments, and you’re motivated by solving problems and driving improvements.

You’re a strong relationship builder, able to influence and engage others, including third parties, to achieve shared goals. You demonstrate resilience and calmness under pressure, with the ability to lead on critical services and provide a clear direction in challenging scenarios. You’re analytical, solution-focused, and committed to continuous improvement.

You bring a solid foundation of knowledge, backed by a degree or equivalent in a STEM subject, and relevant practitioner-level qualifications. You understand the importance of equality in the workplace and are confident integrating those principles into your work. You’re comfortable travelling for supplier engagement and understand that occasionally, out-of-hours support may be required.
