Are you an experienced building maintenance professional with a passion for delivering high-quality services? Luton Council is seeking a Team Supervisor (Operations) to lead and coordinate our skilled workforce, ensuring exceptional service across our operations.

As a Team Supervisor, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day building maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules of rates, and agreed standards.
  • Allocate labour and materials efficiently to meet targets, deadlines, and performance objectives.
  • Interpret requests and produce specifications, drawings, estimates, and technical reports.
  • Provide expert advice while ensuring adherence to Council policies and legislative requirements.
  • Monitor health & safety compliance and maintain high-quality service delivery.
  • Respond to emergency situations outside normal hours, including attending sites and inspections where required.

About you

What We’re Looking For

  • Demonstrable experience in building maintenance and working with Schedule of Rates.
  • Strong supervisory skills with the ability to plan, organise and lead teams effectively.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and applying systematic solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with customers, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Understanding of the building industry, commercial awareness, and regulatory compliance (including Health & Safety).
  • A recognised building trade qualification (e.g., City & Guilds) and/or equivalent supervisory experience.
  • Willingness to attend sites across the UK, work outside normal hours, and undertake surveys including working at height and in confined spaces.
