Lead the Way in Greening Erewash!

Are you someone who takes pride in your community and thrives on inspiring others? Do you have operational maintenance experience and a NVQ2 in Horticulture or Waste Management, or equivalent experience? Step into the role of Green Space and Street Scene Team Leader and become the driving force behind Erewash’s clean, safe, and vibrant public spaces.

From West Park in Long Eaton to Victoria Park in Ilkeston and the wild beauty of Pioneer Meadows and Straw’s Bridge, you’ll oversee the care of parks, nature reserves, rewilding sites, and public walkways - ensuring they reflect the high standards our residents deserve.

Your Leadership, Our Landscape: Your leadership will ensure the places where people live, work and relax are looked after in ways that embody our commitment to sustainability, biodiversity and community wellbeing. As a hands-on leader, you’ll energise and empower your team - fostering high morale and championing best practice. Whether supporting colleagues or engaging with residents, contractors, and community partners, you’ll set the tone for excellence and accountability.

Plan. Coordinate. Inspire. You’ll oversee green space maintenance and street cleansing across the borough - managing teams who keep sports pitches, ornamental areas, trees, open spaces and public walkways in excellent condition. You’ll ensure equipment is used safely and efficiently, resources are well allocated, and every site gets the attention it needs.

Championing “Wild About Erewash”: You’ll lead the charge in balancing formal landscaping in Green Flag parks like West Park, Victoria Park, Straw’s Bridge and Pioneer Meadows with naturalistic planting, rewilding areas, native species and habitat restoration - bringing biodiversity to life and striving to ensure our green spaces are both beautiful and ecologically healthy.

Community-Focused, People-Powered: You’ll engage with residents, volunteers, and community groups - listening to feedback, building relationships, and making sure our spaces serve everyone. Your team will be motivated, well-supported, and proud to deliver a service that truly matters.

Weather-Proof & Ready to Respond: You will often work outdoors in all kinds of weather and deal with seasonal pressures. Whether it’s leaf fall, snow, storm damage or post-event clean-ups, you’ll be ready to adapt and lead - sometimes outside normal hours, including weekends and bank holidays.

Why It Matters: It’s a chance to shape the future of Erewash’s environment. Your leadership will be the driving force behind Erewash Borough Council’s vision of vibrant, sustainable communities where everyone can enjoy clean, safe, green environments throughout the borough.

Benefits of Working for Us: In addition to a competitive salary, you will also have access to:

  • Generous annual leave package – 29 days annual leave (rising to 33 days after 5 years’ continuous service) plus 8 bank holidays a year
  • Free workplace car parking within the Borough
  • Opportunities for training, learning and continuous professional development
  • Family friendly flexible working policies available
  • Option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) plus access to a salary sacrifice scheme for added voluntary pension contributions
  • Discounted leisure membership with the Fit for Work scheme
  • Access to the VIVUP employee benefits discount and salary sacrifice scheme
