We are recruiting a Team Leader at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly in a busy customer facing service area and to provide support across the wider Council Tax and Business Rates Team.

The postholder will assist Senior Officers in carrying out the Council Tax recovery and enforcement processes to maximise Council Tax collection, and will have day-to day line management responsibility for managing the Council Tax Recovery Team, providing appropriate training and development opportunities.

Key duties will include maximising Council Tax collection, responsibility for post liability order actions, deal with complex arrears cases, and administer various insolvency actions that may apply to Council Tax debts, i.e. bankruptcies, insolvency practitioners by submitting insolvency claims and preparing write-off reports.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • 5 GCSEs Grade A*-C including Mathematics and English Language or equivalent relevant qualifications on the Credit and Qualifications Framework which require the same level of ability in Mathematics and English Language.
  • Detailed knowledge of Council Tax recovery and enforcement regulations and relevant case law, including insolvency processes.
  • IT literate and able to effectively use various software packages.
  • Experience of dealing with customer enquiries and complaints and liaising with external organisations.
