    Wirral WRAP School is an independent, specialist day provision operating over 39 weeks of the year for boys and girls aged 7–16 with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Based in Beechwood, Wirral, we are an aspirational, innovative and supportive school committed to the development of both our students and staff.

    We pride ourselves on fostering a positive and collaborative working environment where staff support one another both in and out of the classroom. All staff benefit from ongoing professional development, including regular training in safeguarding, mental health, multi-agency working, and special educational needs such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.

    About the Role
    Behavioural Support/Health and Safety
    As a Teaching Assistant you will ensure that the area of work complies with legislation relating to Health and Safety and observing and implementing specific responsibilities in relation to these matters as detailed in WRAP policies.

    You will play a key role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping to create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment. You will work closely with teaching staff to support both academic and personal development, enabling students to achieve their full potential.

    Key Responsibilities
    ● Provide high-quality classroom support, including delivering PPA cover and teaching where required
    ● Work with teachers to plan, deliver and assess an engaging and inclusive curriculum
    ● Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
    ● Manage classroom behaviour effectively, including supporting students with heightened needs
    ● Assist in preparing learning materials and classroom displays
    ● Support students during trips, visits and unstructured times such as lunch
    ● Contribute to a positive and safe learning environment
    ● Participate in therapy sessions and support students during challenging periods
    ● Provide cover for teaching staff when required

    Safeguarding & Health and Safety
    ● Maintain a safe and secure learning environment at all times
    ● Follow all safeguarding procedures in line with school policies and Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) and proposed revisions (2026) as they become available.
    ● Understand and implement health and safety responsibilities in accordance with WRAP policies

    Requirements
    ● Enhanced DBS check (required)
    ● Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a school setting
    ● GCSEs or equivalent qualifications

    Skills & Experience
    ● Experience supporting children with special educational needs
    ● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    ● Ability to engage, motivate and inspire students
    ● Experience in mentoring, tutoring or behaviour support
    ● A proactive and flexible approach to working in a dynamic environment
