Are you caring, patient and passionate about supporting children’s emotional wellbeing? Do you want to be part of a team that places therapeutic care and mental health at the heart of learning? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Primary Pupil Referral Unit supports children aged 5-11 who have experienced challenges in mainstream education due to social, emotional or behavioural needs. We believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment where they can heal, grow and learn – and we’re looking for someone who shares that belief.

As a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside teachers and therapeutic staff to support pupils in their learning and emotional development. You’ll help create a calm, structured environment where children feel safe and supported and where their mental health is prioritised.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support pupils in managing emotions and building positive relationships
  • Assist with classroom activities and personalised learning plans
  • Help deliver therapeutic approaches to behaviour and wellbeing
  • Encourage engagement, resilience and self-confidence
  • Work closely with staff and families to support each child’s journey

What we’re looking for:

  • A nurturing and empathetic approach to working with children
  • Willingness to learn and apply trauma-informed practices
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
  • Experience in education or care settings (desirable but not essential)

What we offer:

  • A supporting and inclusive team environment
  • Training in therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • The chance to make a meaningful difference every day
