As Surveying Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and sustainability of Lancaster’s Council Housing Stock. Your leadership will help maintain well-managed estates and commercial properties, directly impacting tenant satisfaction and community wellbeing. By overseeing timely and legally compliant inspections and repairs, you will contribute to a safer, healthier living environment that supports the Council’s commitment to safeguarding and climate action.


What You’ll Be Doing

You will lead and manage the Surveying Team, coordinating technical inspections across housing and communal areas. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with legal and financial standards, managing procurement and budgets, and responding to complaints. You will work closely with contractors, consultants, and other council teams, oversee asbestos testing, and maintain accurate stock condition data. Your role also involves supporting estate walkabouts and promoting a customer-first approach throughout the service.


You’ll Fit Right In If…

You hold essential qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, HNC in Building Studies, and DEA – RdSAP, with strong technical knowledge of building construction and maintenance. You have experience in line management, excellent communication skills, and thrive under pressure. Your commitment to continuous professional development and understanding of housing safety regulations like HHSRS and Awaab’s Law align with our values of Working Together, Ambition, Pride, and Ownership. Please note, this role requires a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
