We are seeking to appoint an additional Pastoral Coordinator to further strengthen our work with students who have previously been permanently excluded. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong member of pastoral staff to further develop their career and make a real difference to the lives of some of the most vulnerable young people across Cheshire West.
As Pastoral Coordinator you will fulfil a varied day to day role, take a proactive approach to minimise challenging behaviour; supporting other staff in responding to issues around school and supporting colleagues to develop their behavioural practice. You will recognise that behaviour is a function of need and respond to the underlying causes, supporting students with a range of social, emotional and safeguarding issues. You will represent the school and advocate for students in multi-agency meetings and complete home visits to promote improved attendance and engagement with school. On occasion you may also be required to cover lessons for absent staff.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of successfully working with young people who can present with challenging behaviour. You will have a good understanding of trauma informed practice and be committed to living our mission and values; providing every student with a genuine fresh start and an opportunity to make the changes that will lead to a brighter future. You will have the resilience and confidence to be able to form and maintain positive relationships with students and their families, whilst giving clear boundaries and developing student understanding of acceptable behaviours.
Based in Ellesmere Port, our school currently has capacity for 60 students across Key Stages 3 & 4, all of whom have been permanently excluded from schools across Cheshire West. The nature of our cohort means that the working can be challenging, but achieving meaningful change in young people is also rewarding. You’ll be joining a team of talented, supportive and committed staff in a school rated as Good by OFSTED, which regularly outperforms other similar schools nationally.
