About the role

Are you passionate about sport, fitness, and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels included and supported? We’re looking for a proactive, motivated, and enthusiastic Sports Assistant to join our team at Lodge Park Sports Centre and play a key role in bringing our vibrant leisure community to life.

This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll be involved in all aspects of running a busy and dynamic leisure facility. From greeting customers and delivering excellent front-of-house service, to supporting fitness activities, maintaining high standards across the building, and ensuring health and safety protocols are followed—you’ll be integral to the smooth day-to-day operation of the centre. A key part of the role includes maintaining cleanliness and presentation across all areas of the facility, including changing rooms, sports halls, studios, gym spaces, and outdoor areas such as the Astro turf. You will also work collaboratively with and support the cleaning team to ensure consistently high standards are achieved throughout.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in events, activities, and programmes that make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our community.

No two days are the same in this role. One moment, you could be helping a customer start their fitness journey, and the next carrying out cleaning duties, supporting an event, or completing essential safety checks to keep the facility running safely and efficiently. You’ll be at the heart of everything we do—helping to create a safe, inclusive, clean, and enjoyable environment where people of all ages and abilities can thrive.

What will you be doing?

As a Sports Assistant you will:

  • Provide outstanding customer service, creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
  • Support the smooth operation of our leisure facilities, both front of house and behind the scenes
  • Assist in gym activities, fitness inductions, and coaching sessions (with training provided)
  • Help maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, and equipment care
  • Play an active role in setting up and supporting events and activities
  • Monitor the wellbeing of customers and respond to incidents, including administering first aid when required
  • Work at weekends, evenings and early mornings. Therefore dedication and reliability are vital skills needed for the role.

About you

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable, and committed to delivering excellent customer care
  • Energetic, flexible, and ready to take on a variety of tasks in a busy environment
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with people from all backgrounds
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Passionate about sport, health, and community wellbeing
  • Highly attentive to detail, with a strong commitment to maintaining high cleaning standards and ensuring all areas of the facility are consistently safe, clean, and well-presented
