Job Introduction

We are creating this new role to strengthen the Council’s work on specified accommodation and to provide additional specialist capacity within our Benefits and Financial Welfare service. It is a 37 hours per week position for a fixed term of three years.

The postholder will assess and review Housing Benefit claims for specified accommodation, carefully analyse rent and service charge submissions, and work constructively with providers to ensure charges are clear, evidence-based and represent value for money.

The role will also represent the Benefits and Financial Welfare service at provider panel meetings, supporting positive and professional dialogue with providers and internal colleagues to help achieve fair, transparent and sustainable outcomes.

It is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong benefits knowledge, sound analytical skills and experience of complex casework to take on a specialist role in a high-profile area of work.
