Are you a passionate, qualified social worker looking to make a real impact from day one? Join our Initial Response Team in Adult Social Care and become a key player in safeguarding adults across Barnsley. This is a fast‑paced, highly rewarding role where no two days are the same. You’ll be at the heart of screening safeguarding referrals, making timely, confident decisions, and ensuring adults at risk receive the support they need in line with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.

As part of our rapid response service, you will carry out face‑to‑face visits to understand people’s needs, assess risk, and offer guidance that genuinely makes a difference. You’ll work closely with South Yorkshire Police, reviewing DASH and Vulnerable Adult referrals, and you’ll play a vital role in triaging incoming work to ensure adults are directed to the right service at the right time.

You’ll bring your social work qualification, Social Work England registration (or be awaiting registration), and your experience of working with adults .We are seeking professionals who can carry out high‑quality assessments, work effectively with other agencies, interpret legislation, and demonstrate a strong understanding of the Care Act, MCA, equal opportunities, and anti‑oppressive practice in meaningful ways.

We are looking for someone who communicates well, thinks creatively, adapts quickly, and is excited by the opportunity to grow professionally.

At Barnsley, our values—honesty, teamwork, excellence, and pride—shape everything we do. When you join us, you’re not just taking a job; you’re joining a supportive, ambitious team that believes in helping you become the best practitioner you can be. Whether you're completing your ASYE or developing further in Adult Social Care, we’re ready to support your journey.

If you’re motivated, compassionate, and ready for a role that challenges and inspires you in equal measure, we’d love to hear from you.
