Job Description
Salary: £37,815 - £43,083 per annum (plus Market Factor Supplement of £5,400 per annum*) Grade E Permanent Contract 37 Hours per WeekThe role is within one of Thurrock Children's Services Child and Family Assessment Teams. The service is supportive and has a stable management team. Rated ‘Outstanding’ across all areas by Ofsted in 2024, Thurrock Council Children's Services are now looking forward to not only maintaining an Outstanding rating, but striving to make further improvements in our service delivery.
The Assessment service is responsible for undertaking assessments of need for children, young people and families that are deemed to potentially required statutory intervention. The team is often the first interaction for children and families with a social worker and therefore excellent communication skills are important to the role.
You will be responsible for undertaking Child and Family Assessments that must be completed within the designated timeframe and you should have experience of working to deadlines and ensuring that you are able to build effective relationships with families and professionals to ensure this time is utilised appropriately.
You will have a good understanding of thresholds, risk factors and ability to identify strengths within families and communities. You will have a good ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form and ensure that you record information in a timely and accessible way.
You will be a Qualified Social Worker and have at least 12 months experience and have successfully completed your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). You will be able to demonstrate an commitment to your Continual Professional Development and keen to learn and develop your practice.
A car user is essential due to the need to travel across the borough.
A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check at Enhanced Level with Children’s Barred List is required for this post.
