This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker with post qualification experience, or social workers who have successfully completed the ASYE Programme to join our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) and wider Adult Safeguarding Team which includes organisational safeguarding.

We currently have the following opportunity available:

  • Permanent position
  • Full-time (37 hours per week)
  • Based at County Hall, Morpeth, with the opportunity for hybrid working. Due to the nature of the role you will be expected to work in the office for a minimum of 3 days.
  • Salary starts at £39,862 rising to £44,075 (dependant on experience)

What makes the role unique?

As a Social Worker within the team working with Safeguarding Managers and Team Managers, you will work closely with our partner agencies to ensure the safeguarding of adults at risk in Northumberland working closely with Northumbria Police, Children’s Services, Health, CNTW and a number of other partner agencies.

What we are looking for:

  • Enthusiastic, qualified Social Workers with a commitment to continuous development

The role of the job:

  • To carry out triage of new safeguarding referrals within a 24 hour timescale
  • To assess and analyse risk and strengths along with implementing safety planning
  • Liaise with clients via telephone and conduct home visits
  • Work within a multi-agency safeguarding hub alongside key partners (e.g. Police, Health, Housing)
  • Access support via the Safeguarding Managers/Team Manager where appropriate
  • Undertake or support Section 42 enquiries where required
  • Work with adults and their networks to develop person-centred safeguarding plans
  • Ensure practice aligns with Making Safeguarding Personal
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality recording and documentation
  • Complete brief assessments of work completed
  • Conduct unannounced visits to organisations where safeguarding concerns have been raised
  • Identify immediate risk of harm and raise this with your line manager
  • Meet tight timescales within Triage and MASH
  • Support with organisational safeguarding

For this position you must have the following:

  • Degree in Social Work & registered with Social Work England
  • Successfully completed the UK Skills for Care ASYE programme
  • It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid UK driving licence and is either a car owner or can use a car for work purposes.
