We are recruiting a Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37
Contract Type: Full Time, fixed term until 30th April 2027
Location: Working hours can be split between home and office depending on specific task requirements.
Team: Older People

We pay an attractive salary of £39,152- £41,771 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This role sits within a well‑established, supportive Older People Social Work team covering North Caerphilly. The service supports older adults with mental health, physical health, and dementia-related needs, helping individuals and carers find appropriate solutions during times of difficulty and over the long term.

Key responsibilities include assessments, reviews, safeguarding, and participation in the duty rota. Applicants need good knowledge of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. The team offers strong leadership, structured induction, CPD opportunities, supervision, reflective practice, agile working, and support for both newly qualified and experienced social workers.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification
  • Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1 st April 2016)
  • Registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales or equivalent regulators in England, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
  • Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meetings.

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).

The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
