We are recruiting a Social Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £39,152 - £41,771 with an additional £3,551 annual market supplement, and offer access to training and development opportunities.

This post is a social work position within the 16plus team, with a specific role in supporting young people in care who are Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC).

The role will require you to support all looked after asylum seeking children aged 16 plus in making a successful transition to adulthood. In addition, the support will involve 18+ care leavers in their transition into adulthood and to prepare young people with the outcomes of their immigration status.

Within this role you will be required to provide a high-quality service in relation to all aspects of the assessment and care management process which meet the needs of unaccompanied asylum seeking children and care experienced young people.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, young people, their families/carers and professionals.
  • Experience of multi-agency working.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all successful applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).

The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.

This post attracts a Market Supplement of £3,551 per annum, in addition to the annual salary, which will be paid in 12 monthly instalments.
