Site Maintenance Officer

Grade 5 (£27,274 per annum FTE- actual salary- £18,920.70)

25 hours per week (7:00am-12:00pm Monday to Friday)

Temporary for 6 months

Monks Coppenhall Academy and Nursery are looking to appoint a dedicated, reliable and highly motivated Site Maintenance Officer to join their busy and hard-working site team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of site management including a wide range of duties and responsibilities connected with the buildings and grounds of the school. 

We are looking for a site maintenance officer who:

  • Is conscientious and trustworthy; 
  • Has the ability to work independently but also as part of a team; 
  • Has the ability to act on their own initiative;  
  • Has a good sense of humour and a hardworking ethos; 
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safeguarding children and maintaining confidentiality at all times; 
  • Has knowledge of Health, Safety & Welfare requirements.

The duties will include:

  • Ensuring that buildings and the site are secure and take remedial action if required;
  • Being a registered key holder including opening the site at the beginning of the day;
  • Operating and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security;
  • Undertaking minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site;
  • Arranging emergency repairs as required;
  • Arranging regular maintenance and safety checks;
  • Overseeing onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales;
  • Undertaking general portage duties, including moving furniture and equipment within the school;
  • Performing duties in line with health and safety and COSHH regulations and act where hazards are identified, report serious hazards to line manager immediately;
  • Undertaking regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings, (including compliance with fire safety regulations) and equipment, in line with other schedules;
  • Carrying out Academy banking as required;
  • Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school, raising any concerns following school protocol/procedures;
  • Any other duties appropriate to the post.

You would also be required to take annual holiday entitlement during school holidays.
