Position Advertised: Caretaker / Cleaner – Primary school

Salary: Grade 3 – 30 hours per week – 40wk FTE

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: 30 hours per week

(split shift mornings then after school, e.g. 6.15-9.15am then 3-6pm, exact pattern will be confirmed with the successful candidate)

If so, the Governors of Duddon St Peter’s CofE Primary School (federated with Barrow CofE Primary School) are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly skilled person to clean and take care of our school building so that it is safe and welcoming environment for the children to learn and staff to work.

Duddon is a small, friendly and nurturing school with a team of dedicated staff who are committed to supporting our Christian ethos. Our children are happy, confident and thrive both academically and socially through our inclusive and highly supportive ethos.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience within a school / building site environment and understand the key roles and responsibilities of school caretaking and cleaning.
  • Be a skilled practitioner – able to clean designated areas whilst also carrying out some general maintenance and repairs across the school site, under the direction of the school leaders
  • Able to carry out porterage duties
  • Be motivated and able to demonstrate excellent time management
  • Be fully conversant with H&S requirements such as the safe storage of cleaning materials in accordance with the requirements of COSHH
  • Be aware of and prepared to undertake regular compliance checks such as legionella water checks, alarm monitoring etc. to support school leaders with Health and Safety compliance (training is available for the successful candidate)
  • Ensure the school site is clean, well maintained, fit for purpose and a happy place.
