Ashford Borough Council manages short stay accommodation facilities for single people and families in housing need. These families will be supported by the Council&©s Housing Options Team to move on from the facility into long term accommodation.

Each property provides decent short term housing to people during this traumatic period of their lives.

The post holder will be pivotal to the efficient operation of these facilities and low-level management support to the residents.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the efficient operation of Short Stay Accommodation facilities. The role has several key aspects around housing management and repairs coordination. You will be welcoming new residents, explaining house rules, and making sure their move-in experience is smooth, along with:

Remaining the first point of contact for all residents, managing their stay, ensuring facility rules are followed, carrying out room inspections, overseeing check-outs and preparing accommodations for re-let.

Monitoring building security, fire alarms, heating systems, emergency lighting, laundry facilities, managing communal cleanliness, and handling waste/recycling duties.

Keeping records when reporting accommodation issues when liaising with internal teams such as Repairs, Housing Options, Placement Officers and external sub-contractors.

It is essential that you are confident at managing housing services and basic repairs, along with having:

Good communication and organisational skills and the ability to work with vulnerable groups

Primarily you will be working at Christchurch House and Christchurch Lodge, but you will need to have a valid driving licence as you will be required to travel to other satellite sites across the borough on occasions.

The post holder must maintain at all times a satisfactory Basic report from the Disclosure and Barring Service
