We are seeking a highly skilled and strategically minded Service Manager to lead Brent Council’s Financial Assessments service. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of accurate, timely, and customer-focused financial assessments that support Housing Benefits, Council tax/Support, Adult social care-Financial Assessments, Appointee/Deputyship and Independent Travel.
You will manage a team of Team Leaders, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies, while driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency. The post holder will play a key role in shaping service delivery, implementing digital solutions, and using data to inform decision-making and performance monitoring.

The PersonWe are looking for a confident and experienced leader with a strong understanding of financial assessment processes within Housing Benefits Council tax Support and Council Tax. Knowledge and understanding of the Adult social care-Financial Assessments, Appointee/Deputy functions and Independent Travel team are desirable.
You will be analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality services that meet statutory requirements and support vulnerable residents.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Proven experience in managing Housing Benefits, Council tax Support, Financial assessments or income-related services in a local authority or similar setting.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
• Excellent understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to interpret complex financial information and use data to drive service improvements.
• A collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
• High standards of integrity, professionalism and compliance.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to manage change and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

Salary range
- £61,653 - £65,181 per year
