The role
The council have just undertaken an extensive service charge de-pooling project and now need a full-time service charge officer to help shape and deliver this new service. You will become a key member of a small, and experienced service which offers a range of high-quality homeownership and service charge functions.
The overall purpose of the role is to ensure that all service charges are accurately calculated and levied against all residents including tenants and other homeowners. You will be the main contact for service charge enquiries both internal and external. The service charge officer will play a key role in improving how service charges are implemented and managed, assisting with ongoing development of any processes and systems. Above all ensuring the residents are at the core of everything that we do.
About You
The key qualifications, skills and experience required for this role:
Friendly, outgoing, and passionate with the service you deliver. You’ll be an experienced problem solver with an eye for detail. You’ll be able to engage with all residents and staff to resolve any issues, highlighting any areas of improvement along the way.
Essential
• Experience in managing and maintaining large volumes of data.
• The ability to communicate complex issues effectively.
• An understanding of the accounting process for service charges.
• Impeccable time management skills and the ability to work towards tight deadlines.
• Delivering a first-class service to all users.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and build strong internal and external networks.
• Be proactive in developing the service including suggesting changes to policies and procedures when appropriate.
Beneficial
• Systems experience with Microsoft Excel and NEC housing management system (service charges).
• An accountancy qualification or the willingness to work towards.
• CIH level 3 or the willingness to work towards.

Salary range
