An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Technician to become part of our dynamic Engineering Services team at Leicestershire County Council.

As a key member of our forward-thinking team, you’ll work alongside motivated and supportive professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality highway maintenance schemes such as carriageway and footway resurfacing, Vehicle Restraint upgrades to surface treatments and innovative highway improvements. Our Maintenance team is at the forefront of modern practices, with a strong track record of integrating recycled materials and innovative construction techniques to reduce both costs and environmental impact. About the Role

In this role, you will support Engineers in the design and delivery of multiple highway maintenance schemes, helping to ensure projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. You’ll also gain valuable hands-on experience through regular site visits across Leicestershire, offering variety and real-world engagement.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • BTEC Higher / NVQ level 4 in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification. Evidence of continued learning and development or experience.
  • Working in an engineering setting, in relation to design, management, maintenance or construction processes.
  • Working as part of a team on civil engineering or highway maintenance projects.
  • Undertaking measurements of work, checking submitted accounts and monitoring budgets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Liaising with members of the public and other stakeholders, including verbal and written communication and production of materials for meetings or presentations.
  • Good knowledge of current highway design standards, construction techniques, or maintenance standards. Good knowledge of CDM 2015, primarily duty holder’s responsibilities.
  • Good IT skills, including use of CAD software and ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
