Lightbulb is an innovative countywide partnership delivered across the seven district councils in Leicestershire and Leicestershire County Council. The service brings together a wide range of practical housing support into a single point of access, helping vulnerable residents remain safe, independent and well within their own homes.

We are now looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Technical Officer to lead and support our Technical Officer service across Leicestershire.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a forward-thinking and evolving service that delivers Disabled Facilities Grants, home adaptations and wider housing support to older, vulnerable and disabled residents. You will provide operational leadership to a team of Technical Officers working across localities, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused and efficient services that make a real difference to people’s lives.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day line management, technical guidance and performance oversight to the team, whilst working collaboratively with Occupational Therapists, caseworkers, contractors, health partners, local authorities and wider stakeholders to coordinate complex adaptations and housing solutions.

You will support the continued improvement and transformation of Disabled Facilities Grant and adaptations processes across the partnership, helping to drive consistency, innovation and improved customer journeys throughout the service.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience managing staff and driving performance within a customer-focused environment
  • Has experience working within housing, adaptations, technical or related services
  • Can build strong partnerships and work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Is confident managing complex cases, complaints and operational challenges
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable residents and delivering high-quality services

Knowledge or experience of Disabled Facilities Grants, housing adaptations or related legislation would be advantageous.

The role is based at Blaby District Council Offices in Narborough; however, the successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across Leicestershire to support locality teams and service delivery requirements.

This post is designated as an Essential Car User role. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes is essential.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check for both Adult and Child Workforce.

If you are looking for an opportunity to lead within a collaborative and ambitious partnership service that is making a genuine difference across Leicestershire, we would love to hear from you.

Benefits of working with us include a Local Government Pension scheme, exciting career opportunities, flexible working including flexi-time scheme and out of town offices with free car parking and cycle bays. Further details on our benefits can be found on the Employee benefits page.
