    Senior Surveyor – Estates

    Barnsley Council is seeking highly motivated individuals who possess good technical and communication skills to join our team of experienced surveyors.

    You will be responsible for supporting the Principal Surveyors to ensure the provision of an integrated and comprehensive strategic property service to the Council. This will involve conducting inspections, valuations, measurement, negotiations and agree terms on tenancies as well as investigating queries and complaints and bring these to a satisfactory conclusion.

    You will need to demonstrate the ability to provide structured professional advice related to the Councils priorities to encourage growth, as well as experience of working with development partners to de-risk sites and have a good grasp of Landlord and Tenant matters.

    You will also support the management of the Council’s land and property portfolio, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations. Additionally, you will contribute to the Councils Asset Management Plan and supporting the delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Plan targets.

    Barnsley Council’s diverse land and property assets are key enablers of service delivery and regeneration. Our asset portfolio is crucial for the Council to achieve its ambitions for now and for the future. It includes our beautiful heritage and cultural venues and spaces such as Cannon Hall, Worsborough Mill, and Elsecar Heritage Centre, our iconic art-deco Town Hall and Civic Centre, Grade A office accommodation at locations like Westgate Plaza and Gateway Plaza, children’s homes, green spaces and allotments, parks, and reservoirs.

    With a land and property portfolio of approximately 2,500 assets and a book value of £300 million pounds, we are looking to expand our Estates Team. We are seeking dynamic individuals for the following positions: -
