Job Description

Overview

London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Senior Social Worker to provide a high-quality and effective social work service.

The role will be a blend of leadership, management, and direct casework and will include the holding of a small complex caseload while assisting the team manager with the supervision and development of the team. The postholder will contribute to the management of the team’s budget through the effective quality assurance of support plans to ensure that services are delivered cost-effectively. Furthermore, they will contribute to the achievement of key performance management within the team and advise the team manager of any barriers impacting service delivery.

  • Act as a Designated Senior Officer for safeguarding concerns and S.42 enquiries.
  • Ensure timely and robust responses to safeguarding issues, in line with policy, guidance, and legislation.
  • Screen safeguarding referrals, make decisions on case progression, authorise safeguarding plans, ensure agreed actions are undertaken and enter accurate case notes in line with required timescales.
  • Chair a range of safeguarding meetings.
  • Maintain high standards of practice across the team, with a focus on making safeguarding personal.
  • Support the Team Manager and Operations Manager in achieving key performance indicators.
  • Work collaboratively with council colleagues and partner agencies to meet person-centred outcomes within budgetary constraints.
  • Represent the local authority in key meetings, panels, and groups, ensuring follow-up on agreed actions.
  • Promote adult safeguarding policies and processes both internally and externally to partners.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A social Worker qualification and hold qualifications, such as, CQSW, DipSW/HE, BA in social Worker or MA/MSC in Social Work.
  • You must be registered with Social Work England.
  • Hold the Practice Educator qualification.
  • Educational attainment to degree level or equivalent or has the equivalent relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of two years post qualification experience in a social work role.
