We have a permanent vacancy in a highly motivated and well-respected Strategic Housing team who have a strong track record of successful project delivery across tenure. The Team is working hard to ensure that everyone in the borough has access to a safe, warm and affordable home in a sustainable neighbourhood.
Your role
As a Senior Public Health Officer, you’ll work closely with Strategy Housing, Public Health and Berneslai Homes to lead the planning and delivery of public health programmes and initiatives to support our residents to live in healthy, affordable secure homes. You’ll use your public health skills and housing experience to support the delivery of our Housing Strategy, this varied and interesting role will include addressing fuel poverty, improving access to housing support, supporting the regeneration of housing and training front line staff about the dangers of damp and mould.
Working in close partnership with colleagues across the council, the NHS and a host of statutory, community and voluntary groups including Berneslai Homes, our social housing provider, you will use your housing and public health skills to plan and deliver a range of programmes.
You’ll help us to develop, deliver and evaluate projects to tackle health inequalities and improve housing conditions across the Borough. This could include helping us to develop services, commissioning and strategies, and play a key part in needs assessments and service reviews. Your portfolio will be broad ranging across all housing tenures and could include planning and delivery of public health programmes, including commissioning, contract management, and stakeholder engagement and research and evaluation, striving to improve the health and reduce inequalities which contribute to creating a Healthy Barnsley.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for a passionate public health officer, with an understanding of the role housing plays as a wider determinant of health and experience of collaborative working and excellent communication skills and a proven track record of delivering successful public health initiative. To join us, you’ll need a relevant degree and experience which meets the role profile.
Salary range
- £42,839 - £46,142 per year
