The Housing and Land directorate is responsible for the Mayor’s plans to deliver new and improved homes and strong communities. Working closely with boroughs and partners, we manage the Mayor’s housing investment programmes and land and property assets to support the building of affordable homes, job creation and regeneration.

About the team

The New Homes Accelerator Team is a new team in the Investment and Operations Unit in the Housing and Land directorate.

The Government’s New Homes Accelerator (NHA) is a programme established by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to speed up the delivery of large-scale housing developments that have stalled. The NHA aims to increase the delivery of homes by the end of this Parliament (2029). Since the NHA was established, MHCLG, GLA and London Councils officers have worked in partnership to analyse London’s stalled sites and identify suitable interventions to accelerate their delivery, but are now taking this to the next level.

In early 2026, we took this to the next level by establishing the NHA LDN team, to take a more proactive, London-led role, to identify stalled housing sites and finding practical ways to get them moving again. That means using our powers, data and networks to make things happen. We escalate sites where delivery challenges cannot be addressed through these resources to the MHCLG NHA team for action. They will then provide support with engagement where the challenges relate to other government departments or will work to address policy and systems issues if these are the blockers.

This GLA New Homes Accelerator Team acts as our central point of coordination within the GLA to other internal teams and to MHCLG, London boroughs and external partners, minimising disjointed or duplicative communication to key partner organisations. They will work closely with other teams to unblock sites and get homes built in London.

About the role

As Senior Project Officer, you will play a critical role in underpinning the NHA LDN programme through high-quality data management, analysis, and project management support.

Reporting into a Project Manager, you will manage core systems, ensure robust data processes, and provide analytical insight to inform decision-making and unlock housing delivery. You will help ensure that the programme’s evidence base is accurate, up to date, and actionable—supporting colleagues and senior stakeholders across the GLA, Government, and partner organisations.

What your day will look like

You will support the core functions of NHA LDN, in providing the data management, analysis, and system management to maintain an effective and evidence-led programme. This will include:

• managing and maintain NHA LDN systems, ensuring data integrity, consistency and accessibility across the programme
• analyse complex datasets to generate insights that inform prioritisation, interventions and programme strategy
• develop dashboards, reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership forums
• undertake research and analysis to support the development of solutions to unblock housing delivery
• work collaboratively with GLA teams, boroughs, Homes England and Government to align data, share intelligence and improve processes
• identify opportunities to improve data systems, tools and workflows to enhance programme effectiveness
