We’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Strategy and Improvement Team. In this role, you’ll take the lead on shaping, managing and delivering a diverse portfolio of complex projects within Adult Social Care - projects that often extend beyond our service area, influencing other parts of the Council and the wider Integrated Care System.

As a trusted leader, you’ll be responsible for guiding projects from initial assessment and design through to implementation and delivery. You’ll make sure that every project meets high standards, achieves its goals, and is completed on time, while aligning with corporate and directorate policies, national initiatives, and legislation.

We’re looking for someone who brings expertise in programme management methodologies and a proven ability to communicate and deliver at pace. You’ll be the kind of person who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, keeping stakeholders engaged and informed throughout the journey.

If you’re motivated by making a difference in people’s lives, enjoy tackling complexity, and want to play a key role in shaping services that matter, we’d love to hear from you.

About you

You’ll bring substantial experience from the local government sector, ideally within Adult Social Care or a closely related field. You have a strong track record of establishing effective networks, leading and motivating teams, and supporting staff development to deliver positive outcomes. With proven experience in producing and implementing strategies, plans, policies and practice development, you are confident in turning vision into reality.

You are skilled in managing complex projects from design through to delivery, including risk management, monitoring and evaluation. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills enable you to influence, negotiate and build trust at all levels, whether chairing complex meetings, managing challenge, or presenting a clear vision.

Organised and resilient, you thrive under pressure and can balance multiple priorities while maintaining a focus on service excellence. You are confident using quality assurance systems to evaluate and improve provision, and have experience of applying performance management frameworks to set and monitor standards.

With substantial knowledge of strengths-based practice, safeguarding, mental capacity and deprivation of liberty legislation, as well as statutory guidance and procedures, you keep your knowledge up to date and apply it effectively. You also bring a solid understanding of statutory reporting requirements for adult social care. Alongside this, you hold a relevant degree or professional qualification to underpin your expertise.

Application process

Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions; and also any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post. Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
