We are recruiting a Senior Practitioner Social Workerat Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Graddfa House

Team: Community Resource Team

A Senior Practitioner opportunity has arisen within the Hospital Discharge Service of the Community Resource Team.

We are a large multi-disciplinary team, working at pace to ensure timely, safe discharges for residents of our community. This post will be primarily based within our Assessment Service although you will also be asked to provide hospital discharge support where needed.

There is an expectation that you will supervise Social Workers as well as students/newly qualified Social Workers. In return, you will be part of a forward thinking evolving team and will be supported by experienced colleagues and Management Team.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification.
  • Successful completion of the Consolidation of Practice Programme within the first three years of practice (if qualified after 1 April 2016).
  • Knowledge of the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales), Mental health Act, Mental capacity and Deprivation of Liberty legislation.
  • Substantial post qualifying experience within a social services environment.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meeting.

You must possess a Diploma/Degree in Social Work or predecessor and be registered as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or able to transfer from another recognised body).

The current registration requirements state that completion of the Consolidation of Practice qualification within your first 3 years of practice is mandatory (if you qualified after 1st April 2016). Failure to successfully complete this qualification will result in you being unable to renew your Social Work Registration or practice as a Social Worker.
