Redbridge Mental Health services are pleased to invite applications for the post of Senior Social Worker in our Adult Community Mental Health and Wellness Teams.

The Mental Health and Wellness Teams were developed in line with national guidance. They are leading the transformation of adult community Mental Health Services in the borough, developing new ways of working with service users based on a model of place-based care.

The enhanced multi-disciplinary teams provide a range of specialist interventions within an integrated person-centered approach to adults who are residents of the Borough of Redbridge, working with people from their first presentation to Secondary Mental Health Services, through to those who have a diagnosis of a severe and enduring mental health condition with complex presentations including substance misuse and physical health concerns. The teams work to a Recovery approach, with a strong emphasis on Trauma Informed Care and use of the Open Dialogue model. You will have a particular interest in these new ways of working and further training opportunities in these areas are available. The services support service users throughout their journey in Mental Health Services, enabling consistency of care and close liaison with other local NHS services, Social Care, and community statutory and voluntary services.

This post would be attractive for an experienced Mental Health Social Worker and Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) who is passionate about developing services and staff to support mental health service users. The successful candidate would be expected to support other senior multi-disciplinary colleagues in the leadership and management of the team, and to supervise qualified social workers, ASYE and other support staff or students. They would take a lead role for ensuring Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding responsibilities in the team are fulfilled to a high standard.

This is a full-time post, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm although there may be the possibility of flexible or part-time hours or job-share. The team are currently operating a hybrid model of working across both office and agile community working.

Please note that to be eligible to apply you must have substantial mental health and AMHP experience.

    Requirements for applicants:

    • CQSW/Diploma in social work or equivalent degree in social work.
    • Registration as a social worker with Social Work England.
    • Substantial experience of managing a complex caseload of mental health service users
    • Knowledge of person centred care planning with evidence of completing high quality care plans, risk assessments and interventions.
    • Experience of supervising professional staff, dealing with performance issues, delegating work and resources.
    • Experience of working as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner or currently completing training, using all relevant mental health legislation, related policies, and procedures.
    • In depth knowledge of Care Act and MCA responsibilities, safeguarding policies and procedures and its application in Mental Health.
    • Demonstrate excellent levels of understanding of current evidence-based practice in Mental Health.

Please note that this role attracts an AMHP allowance of £3000 per annum and Recruitment & retention for AMHPs of £2000 per annum.

    Closing date: 15th May 2026

Interviews date and time to be confirmed.
