SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER (Ref: SPO)
Salary £46,233.72 pa
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A busy and progressive local authority in Hertfordshire is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Officer to join their Development Management service. Located close to Greater London, the authority faces several development issues, and this post plays an important role managing applications for a range of development proposals. If you are interested in joining us as a Senior Planning Officer within the Development Management team, you will be responsible for a varied personal caseload including a proportion of major, complex and other planning applications for sites across the Borough. This is an exciting, yet challenging role that would suit a candidate with experience working in a development management service.

If you have a sound working knowledge of the development management process along with a positive attitude and a wish to seek and deliver solutions, then we would like to hear from you. You should be enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated. You must be able to work efficiently under your own initiative and also effectively in partnership with planning colleagues, developers, agents, elected Members and other stakeholders to support the Development Management service.

The role requires you to be eligible for membership of the RTPI, ideally with a minimum of 3 years' requisite development management experience, excellent analytical and negotiation skills, and good communication skills; both oral and written. In this role, you will also be required to present reports on behalf of the Service to the Planning and Regulatory Committee, assist and mentor junior officers and technicians and provide advice and guidance where required. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post. A full driving licence and the ability to undertake site visits and inspections is a requirement of the post.
