    We are looking for a motivated, well organised and proactive individual with a strong commitment to helping customers. The role involves assisting Planning Officers in the processing of planning applications and managing planning and enforcement appeals including Public Inquiries and Hearings. You will assist in vetting planning applications and other applications, check Building Control applications to identify potential breaches in planning legislation and carry out Tree Preservation Order checks, as well as answering a variety of basic planning enquiries from members of the public.

    The successful applicant will need to be a team player, as well as able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines. They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and good attention to detail, along with the ability to interpret detailed information, plans and planning legislation.

    The successful applicant will have a good understanding of town planning and development processes and excellent IT skills.

    Maximum contractual hours are 29.60 hours per week maternity cover, but we can be flexible on days/times and applicants are welcome from candidates who are looking for less hours part time/job share. This role is based at Chelmsford Civic Centre, Duke Street.

    Interviews are currently scheduled for the week commencing 24th November.

    Salary range
