We are looking for an experienced and passionateSenior Parent Support Practitioner to play a vital role within ourFamily Hubs service, supporting children, young people and families across Wokingham at the moments they need it most. This role is available on a permanent contract.

In this rewarding role, you will take a lead in delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based parenting programmes, both in group settings and one‑to‑one. Your work will directly empower parents to build confidence, strengthen relationships and create lasting, positive change for their families. You will design and coordinate engaging face‑to‑face and online sessions, assess individual needs to ensure the right support is in place, and work creatively with partners to promote and widen access to programmes across the borough. Measuring impact and learning from outcomes will be central to your practice, helping to continuously improve the support we offer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide senior professional support for the design, coordination, quality assurance,
    workforce development and evaluation of Wokingham’s evidence-based parenting support
    programme across the Best Start Family Hub system.
  • To assist in the design of parent support interventions so that the programme is delivered
    with fidelity, ensures inclusivity and accessibility, and is aligned with Wokingham’s
    Helping Early & Early Years Strategies, Families First Programme and Best Start in Life
    ambitions.
  • Support the operational development and coordination of the borough-wide parent
    support offer across Family Hubs and Family Help services.
  • Ensure the local parent support offer is needs-led, evidence-informed and aligned
    with Wokingham’s Helping Early & Early Years Strategies, Families First Programme
    and Children & Young People’s Partnership priorities.
  • Maintain oversight of commissioned and in-house parenting programmes to ensure
    coherence, quality, equitable access and avoidance of duplication.
  • Act as the senior professional lead for evidence-based parenting approaches across
    the Best Start Family Hub system.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Relevant professional qualification in health, social care, education, psychology or a related discipline
  • Substantial experience delivering and/or overseeing evidence-based parenting programmes within Early Help, Family Support, Family Hubs or Children’s Services.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues, manage conflicting views and expectations and cope with unpredictable issues and behaviours
