Why join our Highway Design Team?

The Council is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Senior Design Engineer with specific experience in the design, procurement and supervision of transport projects.

As part of the Highway Design team, you will:

  • Play a significant role in the delivery of the Council’s ambitious Growth and Strategic Investment Programme.
  • Help transform the borough’s transportation infrastructure in line with our emerging Low Carbon Transport Strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues with Strategic Transport Planning and Highways Development Control teams and with colleagues in other departments, including Regeneration.

Your job role will involve:

  • The completion of feasibility studies, optioneering, preliminary and detailed design of highway and other transport projects.
  • Completion of budget estimates and managing the financial aspects of construction projects.
  • Compiling works information, contact administration and supervision.
  • Completing technical checks on works completed by developers and the Council’s Technical Service Support Services provider.
