This is a key post within the Streets and Environment Department. The post holder will play a significant role in delivering the Council’s Transformation Project for highway maintenance covering an area of 87km² and extends from Upper Norwood in the north to Old Coulsdon in the south, supported by a road network of 726km and 62 highway structures including bridges, subways, and retaining walls.

As a senior member of the Highways and Traffic Team you will be managing our highway structures and project-managing all aspects from feasibility to construction including finance and contract administration. You will have a proven track record of delivering capital programmes to very tight timescales and within budget. You will also be supporting the wider team with the delivery of a wide range of highways and transport infrastructure schemes,

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and well organised Senior Engineer, with specialist knowledge, experience and skills to maintain the public realm on behalf of the Council and to represent the council at various technical advisory group meetings.

Reporting to the Highway Delivery and Contracts Manager you will also work closely with other members of the Highways Team, whose tasks are varied and wide ranging.

This is a demanding and rewarding role which will bring benefits to people who live and work in Croydon. The successful candidate will have a formal qualification in a relevant subject and comprehensive relevant post experience.
