
Senior Corporate Accountant

We’re looking for a high‑calibre finance professional to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our financial reporting. Working closely with the Corporate Finance Manager and senior leaders, you’ll help shape strategy, drive performance, and ensure our reporting is accurate, timely and of the highest standard.
Based in Stafford with flexible hybrid working, this is a role that offers both impact and balance.
Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you’ll take ownership and influence where it counts:
- Lead on statutory financial reporting, including delivery of the Statement of Accounts
- Interpret and apply accounting standards across the organisation
- Manage audit relationships, ensuring smooth, well‑evidenced processes
- Oversee the capital programme and fixed asset register in line with CIPFA guidance
- Strengthen financial systems, controls and reporting processes
- Lead and develop the Capital team

The Ideal CandidateWe’re looking for someone who brings both technical excellence and leadership:
- CCAB qualified with public sector experience.
- Strong knowledge of local government finance and statutory reporting
- Deep understanding ofaccounting standards and how to apply them
- Confident interpreting and applying legislation and codes of practice
- Proven ability to lead, influence and deliver under pressure

Salary range
- £61,217 - £65,908 per year
