We have a fantastic and rarely available opportunity to work in our high performing Communications, Marketing and Engagement team. As Senior Communications Officer, you will be leading our team of dedicated Communications Officers working across PR, marketing, and digital communication.
No day will be the same and the post holder will be required to be flexible and think creatively to bring a fresh approach, from developing communication plans with service teams to protecting our reputation in emergency and crisis situations.
You will have exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the council and advise our senior management team and elected Members. Developing excellent working relationships with local media and other stakeholders will be key to maximise opportunities to raise the council’s profile.
With an eye for detail and excellent proof-reading skills, you will support the production of our highly popular borough magazine, weekly staff newsletter and other literature. Our brand is important to us, and you will support us to visualise and embed our new values, priorities, and vision.
We are looking for a candidate who can be flexible, manage conflicting priorities and work well under pressure when needed. In return, you will be supported to develop and thrive in this role, whilst taking opportunity of the many benefits we have to offer.
The post is hybrid with the expectation of attending the office three days a week, dependent on service needs. You will be required to attend more often during your training.
You will have the flexibility to attend occasional evening meetings and weekend events.
The post holder will have a full UK driving licence to be able to travel across the borough.
