SENIOR BUILDING CONTROL OFFICER

Salary: GRADE H - £44,075- £48,226 per year (plus standby allowance)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire, NG10 1HU
Hybrid working is available – there is an expectation to attend the
office 2-3 times a week

We're on the lookout for a knowledgeable and forward-thinking Senior Building Control Officer to play a key role in delivering expert guidance across a broad range of domestic, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supporting the Building Control Manager in delivering the building control service.
- Assessing building regulation applications and carrying out site inspections
- Contributing to safe, sustainable, and compliant developments across Erewash, Broxtowe, Mansfield, Ashfield and Gedling
- Supporting demolition licensing and the dangerous structures response service
- Mentoring Assistant Building Control Officers and supporting professional development
- Participating in out-of-hours emergency standby on a rota basis
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Corporate membership or working towards corporate membership of:
- CABE, CIOB, or RICS
- Willingness (or ability) to achieve LABC Level 6 Competency through assessment leading to a level 3 validation with the Building Safety Regulator.
- A collaborative mindset and commitment to maintaining high service standards

Your usual workplace will be the Town Hall in Long Eaton, but you’ll travel to other sites within our partner authorities when required.
