About the Role
We are looking for a Delivery Driver to drive a van (3.5t) to libraries throughout Oxfordshire. This is a permanent, full time position. (37 hours/week). The role would be based out of Library Support Services in Holton near Wheatley (OX33).
The role involves delivery of library resources (books, audio, event materials) between libraries in the south of Oxfordshire. Our resources are usually packed into plastic crates, with a maximum weight of 8.5kg per crate.
The driver will also be required to help sort returning deliveries to our base of operations at Holton, and to repack the van for the following day's delivery.
The driver will be responsible for ensuring the vehicle is road-worthy, carrying out vehicle cleaning and checks, and reporting any defects to their line manager - this will also include maintaining a vehicle record book.

About you

  • You should hold a full UK driving licence and be able to drive large vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in weight.
  • You should be equally comfortable working alone and in a team, as the role includes elements of both.
  • You should have a flexible approach, be a team player and have excellent communication skills,
  • You should be in good health and fit to carry out full duties including being capable of lifting and handling in accordance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Ability to communicate actively; listening, seeking the views of others and sharing information; ability to make clear decisions based on sound evidence and good judgement
  • Ability to work effectively both within a team and without constant supervision; ability to handle challenging situations (eg. vehicle accident) in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to support, develop and improve services which are responsive to customer and community diversity.
