    The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need.

    We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities.

    We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people.

    Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas:

    • Nursery Workers
    • Teaching Assistants
    • Leadership/Management; and
    • Customer Care.

    We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop.

    Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need.

    What is the job role?


    Coventry Adult Education is seeking a Senior Administrator to join our team to provide a high quality, professional, supportive and responsive reception and administrative function during the evening.

    The post holder will undertake a variety of tasks including the following:

    • Customer facing reception duties to deal with enquiries from a range of sources.
    • Provide advice and guidance to learners
    • Processing learner information on our Management Information System
    • Various admin duties including raising registers and monitoring attendance

    The post is part time and the salary quoted will be pro rata.

    Hours of work: 5 pm – 9.15 pm Monday to Thursday

    Who are we looking for?

    We are looking for someone who has experience of clerical and administrative work; being able to use and maintain a range of computerised systems. The postholder should also be able to produce high quality documentation in a variety of formats such as letters, reports  and spreadsheets .

    You should be highly organised and have a high level of communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal with the ability to build a rapport with team members and learners.  You will be expected to use your initiative to deal with issues as and when they arise and be able to identify more complex issues that need to be escalated.
