Are you looking for your next role in a small friendly local authority finance team? Are you a detail-oriented financial professional with a passion for Capital Accounting and Treasury Management?
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team, supporting the Accountancy Section.
- Assist with the preparation and update of the capital program and support treasury management, ensuring accuracy and integrity in all financial processes.
- Be the finance business partner for capital, supporting service departments and providing guidance on budget monitoring, financial position, and compliance.
- Assist in preparing the Council’s financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
- Support the implementation of financial policies and legislation, translating complex requirements for both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Represent Finance at committees and working groups, influencing decision-making and promoting best practice.
- Contribute to the Council’s Medium Term Financial Strategy and forward planning.
What we’re looking for:
- A fully qualified AAT accountant with at least two years’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience in budget monitoring, financial analysis, and preparing statutory accounts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
- A positive, flexible, and resilient approach, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Ability to interpret and apply financial policies, and present complex information clearly.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems.

We offer flexible working arrangements, giving you the choice to work remotely, in our Kings Hill office, or in a hybrid pattern that combines both. While the majority of your duties can be carried out remotely, some office attendance will be required to support team collaboration and key meetings.
