We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Senior Accountant, to join us as a key member of the Council’s Finance team.
As a Senior Accountant, reporting to the Principal Accountant you will be responsible for producing, maintaining, updating, monitoring and closure of all records relating to assigned areas.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a diverse range of services and work alongside dedicated professionals in a council that is committed to making a positive impact for the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of budgets, monitoring, and reporting for specified areas. 
- Provide advice to Heads of Service and Service Managers to assist in managing their financial affairs. 
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. 
- Assist in providing financial aspects of audits, risk assessments, and long-term asset planning. 
- To complete all relevant statutory returns, grant claims and other relevant returns relevant to the role. 
- Reconciliation of assigned areas. 
We are looking for an accountant with proven experience of finance in a complex organisation and shares a commitment to continuous improvement, as well as:
- Excellent technical skills with a strategic mindset. 
- Experience of working across teams, especially within multi-disciplinary and project-based settings. 
- Some knowledge of local government finance or similar complex environments.
