About the Role
As Senior Accountant, you will provide professional accountancy advice to service directorates, ensuring compliance with Accounting Standards, legislation and relevant codes of practice. You will:
- Prepare revenue and capital estimates
- Assist with year-end closure and contribute to the Statement of Accounts
- Provide detailed monthly monitoring reports and investigate budget variances
- Reconcile and monitor the council’s Collection Fund
- Manage special projects and business process improvements
- Oversee financial systems, insurance arrangements, VAT returns and leasing records
- Provide financial analysis for partner organisations
You will also play a key role in interpreting financial regulations, recommending improvements, and supporting decision-making across the council.
What We’re Looking For
- CCAB part qualified accountant or Association of Accounting Technicians (Level 4) with relevant experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of local government finance
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- A proactive, organised and collaborative approach
