The Role
- Coordinating and monitoring the Council’s capital accounts and programme
- Maintaining the capital asset register and calculating asset rentals
- Advising on capital finance and accounting matters
- Liaising with internal teams, external auditors, and valuers
- Preparing and monitoring revenue budgets and final accounts
- Leading on Section 106 records and IFRS16 lease accounting
- Supporting capital bids and government returns
- Deputising for the Group Accountant – Capital when needed
The Person
Essential:
- Part-qualified CCAB or full AAT, or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in capital accounting and budgeting within a local authority
- Strong grasp of capital accounting regulations and financial systems
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Excellent communicator and collaborator
Desirable:
- Experience with capital appraisal techniques and alternative funding sources
- Awareness of current developments in local government capital accounting

Salary range
- £34,434 - £36,363 per year
