
SEND Support Teaching Assistant TA2 Monday to Friday Full time term time only

We have a vacancy for a full-time position to support a Year 2 pupil. The role is dependent on continued funding for this pupil and will initially be until the end of the summer term 2026.
Information specific to these pupils' needs:
The pupil has a neuro-diverse profile and communication difficulties. A flexible, multi-sensory approach is required to meet the pupil’s individual needs, enabling them to develop and embed strategies to help them access teaching and learning in the KS1 setting in a meaningful way. The successful candidate will work closely with the classroom team, SENDCO, parents and external professionals to provide high-quality provision tailored to the pupil’s needs.
Requirements of the role:
To address the pupil’s Special Educational Needs the successful candidate will, in close liaison with the Year 2 team, SENDCO and external professionals, create an environment that reflects the needs and supports the inclusion of children with difficulties in accessing learning. Particular attention will be given to:
- the physical structure of the classroom (desk placement, work group spaces, etc).
- personalised visual timetables, with procedures for dealing with change and transition throughout the day.
- assistance for the pupil to integrate at an appropriate and meaningful level with peers, both in classroom activities and at playtimes.
- personalisation of tasks to support the pupil’s understanding, allowing them to access a full, broad curriculum
- delivery of activities and interventions in small-group format to meet the needs of these and other pupils in the classroom/year group.
To address the pupils’ personal, social and emotional development, the successful candidate will:
- help the pupil develop relationships with adults and peers through close support and guidance, building the pupil’s confidence.
- oversee and support the pupil to access structured play, both within the classroom environment and in outdoor spaces, modelling and encouraging play practice and play-based learning.
- facilitate tasks and activities to allow the pupil to demonstrate their individual strengths, within and beyond the classroom.
To address the pupil’s specific communication and interaction difficulties, the successful candidates will:
- adapt teacher input to ensure the pupil is able to understand and engage with learning opportunities.
- be mindful of their own communication and interaction models, ensuring the level and complexity of language used is appropriate to the pupil’s needs.
- Provide structured opportunities for the pupil to learn and extend play skills with their peers.
Successful candidates will also support the school by:
- maintaining close links between home and school.
- liaising, advising and consulting with other members of the team supporting the pupil when asked to do so.
- being aware of confidential issues linked to home/pupils/teachers/school and to keep confidences appropriately.
- assisting with the promotion/celebration of pupil’s work through display at the direction of the class teacher.
- being aware of and adhering to school policies and procedures.
- attending relevant training, including INSET days as requested.
- perform any other tasks, as directed by the Headteacher, which fall within the purview of the post.
A fixed term contract until the end of the summer term 2026 is available in the first instance.

Salary range
